In this 9th point of view, we are supposed to be able to at least understand essential steps of evaluation, understand reasons evaluation is important, describe characteristics of effective evaluation and have idea of ways to evaluate alternatives. Alright? Let’s get started then.
In sight, evaluation is the constant companion between us the leaders and our members. We constantly strive to improve ourselves; hence we continually make an evaluation on how far we have done and we are doing. Apparently, it is commonly called “Evaluation Attitude.” This attitude is somewhat basic principles of all leaders in a leadership program or training.
Evaluation is a continual process, either informal or formal, of judging a situation against a standard. Evaluation is, in essence, two things – an attitude of continuous striving for higher achievements and a process for judging an individual’s or group’s accomplishment of a task against previously identified standards.
-
Our desire and target are to improve our evaluation skills so that we could evaluate in the same manner an eagle soars on the winds; constantly testing, consciously and unconsciously, wind current, flow, time, our altitude, direction, strength, position relative to our goal, and some others more elements that affect our reaching and surpassing the next mountain peak.
Always ask yourselves with possible answers for evaluation progress;
-
- You : “When do I evaluate myself?”
- answer “Always.” -
- You : “what do I look for when I evaluate?”
- answer “The strong and the weak points, possible improvements, and things to keep.” -
- You : “How do I evaluate myself?”
- answer “Evaluate how well you keep the whole you together and how well you get the job done.”
