Leadership Style (1): Authoritarian (autocratic)

August 25th, 2009

Apparently, this style is normally used when leaders tell their employees or followers what the leaders want to be done and how they want it to be accomplished, without getting any advices or comments from their followers which sometimes could probably be helpful. These leaders usually say, “I want you all to. . . “
Some of the appropriate conditions when leaders use this style are when they have already gained all related and necessary information to solve the problem, you are in short on time, and your followers or workers are well motivated.
Leadership Style (1): Authoritarian (autocratic) PhotoHowever, there are some people that tend to think of this style as a vehicle for yelling, shouting, direct instructing, for using demeaning language, and for leading by threats and abusing their power. These people consider that this is not the authoritarian style; rather it is an abusive, unprofessional style which is commonly called bossing people around. The leaders in this situation act as bosses and it has absolutely no place in a leader’s repertoire.
In this modern era, authoritarian style should normally only be used on rare occasions; some moments that require direct instruction to accomplish or cover a problem. Hence, if you still have plenty of time and want to gain more commitment and motivation from your followers or employees, then you are not supposed to use this style. Other styles will apparently be suitable for you, and will be explained in another post.

INTERNATIONAL CLASS; Smart or Rich Student?

August 24th, 2009

INTERNATIONAL CLASS; Smart or Rich Student? PhotoThere have been a lot of schools, prestigious schools precisely, are going up with better programs which one of them is called International Standard Class. This kind of class is specialized for the students studying in that school have chance to get education with International standard. All methods and programs of teaching – learning are based on those educations applied in qualified schools from other countries internationally; though the teachers remain the same as standard class teachers. Sophisticated gadgets such as laptops and personal electronic diaries / notebooks and modern facilities such as Over Head Projector are provided for the purposes of the best results. These all sophisticated equipments are provided by the schools financially supported by the international standard class students’ parents.
Analyzing from the equipments and the financially participation from the parents above mentioned , it is of course not as cheap; moreover in this typical condition of global economic crisis, we don’t think that common people could afford to support the equipments either financially or materially, even though the parents have very suitable children for the class. In short, the children are apparently unable to get into this international standard class when the parents could not give some ‘amount’ to the class. The cleverness and smartness of the children are not enough to get any chairs in this class, therefore they could never have chance to go international and compete with other intelligent students from other countries.
Ironically, those wealth parents are so easy to put their children into the class whom we are uncertain whether they are smart – as smart as they are worth. These children are fully and well equipped when entering the class, and ready to compete (financially and prestigiously) with other classmates. Once more, it is an irony, and it is just a common reality.
